Square Enix today announced a new third-person ‘sprint-action’ shooter game, GUN LOCO, for the Xbox 360.
GUN LOCO takes place on a prison planet where criminals are dropped and left to fend for themselves among various inmate factions. Players will be able to take the role of different characters as they battle their way through a multitude of different environments. You’ll have to take advantage of a large arsenal of weapons, as well as using the kill moves unique to various characters and playing the environment to your advantage to make it through alive.
Sounds great, right? No word about the story yet, but here’s hoping it’s loosely (read: entirely) based on classic Arnold S. film The Running Man. Some might say we have enough games based on this premise, but I’m not one of those people.
As you’ve come to expect with games of this type, GUN LOCO features online multiplayer matches with up to 12 people over Xbox Live. We’re not sure yet whether there will be any co-op functionality or local multiplayer modes, but more details are certain to be revealed as we approach the ‘sometime in 2011′ release date.
