    So I was playing Left For Dead 2 with my girlfriend in split-screen - remember kids, the couple that slays zombies together, stays together – and some guy sends her a message asking if she has a mic. She says no. He says “Shame ;)”.A couple of minutes later, after no proper reply (Unless you count a cat face as a reply) she gets another message from the same guy.“You should get one ;).”... more.

    And this, I think, is where the problem comes from. It's not so much the achievement system that people have the problem with. The idea of showing how far you are willing to go in a game is something I would have thought would catch on quite well. But when you can get 9-odd golds JUST for completing a game on hard mode then you know that the game is tipped in your favour. ... more.
