Our Score Structure
Here at NonsenseGamer, we believe in credit where credit is due. It pains us when a game gets negative press when it’s obvious the writer has some hang-ups unrelated to the game. Because of this, we’ve tried to make our scoring system as objective as possible.
We only score out of 10, because, despite plenty of other site’s claims, the difference between a 75 and a 73 is unmeasurable in real terms.
Below you’ll find a list of how we measure a game’s worth. It’s not based on our writers opinions – you can get that by reading the review – but on how well made a game is for it’s target audience.
We feel this is the only fair way to judge something – objectively, based on it’s own merits.
1 – Unplayable. Up is down, left is right and the developer should probably take a good long look at themselves before making the next game. Technically broken and with no redeeming features, this is left for only the very worst that gaming has to offer.
2, 3, 4 – Still not worth paying full price for on the day of release, but may have some redeeming features. Has more negative points than postive points and, for the vast majority of people, will probably be underwhelming.
5 – Average. As many good points as bad points, as many people will love it as hate it. If a game is a 5, it deserves a play-through even if it’s just a rental.
6, 7 – More good points than bad points, these are the games that are worth playing. If you’re mildly interested in the game or it’s genre, you probably won’t be disappointed.
8, 9 – Very good games that should entertain everybody. More than worth the purchase and time spent, but not quite technically polished enough to score a 10. Perhaps you’ll occasionally come across glitches or broken gameplay, but the overall quality more than outweighs the problems.
10 – Technically perfect. No glitches or broken gameplay. With strong genre-elements, if it’s a 10 you should probably go and buy it without question.

Parental and Accessibility Guides
Each of our reviews now has a Parental and Accessibility Guide slapped on the end. In these we describe how appropriate the game may be to either children or the disabled. It is important to note that our guide for parents is completely separate from the age rating on the box.
While we do these guides to the very best of our ability, there may be things we miss. If there’s anything you want us to focus on, email and we’ll do our best to ensure our reviews have what you need.
